DREAMNORTH 2009 WHITEHORSE WORKSHOPS
Mandate of Programmes: DreamNorth’s Shakespeare Education Programme was created to connect youth, teens, and young professional theatre artists with experienced professional actors. they are designed to foster appreciation in and understanding of Shakespearean Works, to provide instruction in performance skills, and to allow students to experience the creative processes of a professional actor. Workshops are meant to be open and accessible to all potential students, regardless of income, skill level, or previous experience.
Programmes:
KIDS’ MINI CAMP: Age 9-13
Focus: Exploring Shakespeare (Shakespeare is fun and funny!); Using Body and Voice to Create Character; Using Text; Putting on a Small Performance
Dates / Times: August 14 (11:00-4:00); 15 (11:00-4:00); 16 (12:00-5:30)
Location: Shipyards Park
Cost: $10 per youth; $20 per family
TEEN MINI CAMP: Age 14-18
Focus: Exploring and Appreciating Shakespeare; Using Body and Voice to Create Character; Analysing and Using Text to Create Character; Speaking Shakespeare; Putting on a Small Performance.
Dates / Times: August 18 (10-3:30); August 19 (10-3:30); August 20 (10:00-6:00) + optional warm up with actors and attendance of Twelfth Night evening performance (7:00pm @ Shipyards Park).
Location: Shipyards Park
Cost: $10 per youth; $20 per family
YOUNG PROFESSIONALS’ FULL-DAY WORKSHOP (18+)
Focus: Provide Basic Instruction in Performing Shakespeare; Delivering Shakespearean Text and Performing Outdoor Theatre; Provide an Opportunity to Hone and Explore a Shakespearean Audition Piece.
Date / Times: August 21 (9:00-4:30) + attendance of Twelfth Night evening performance.
Location: Shipyards Park
Cost: $30 for a full day professional development workshop
